We have a new yarn and we love it. Because our new summer-inspired base has been a real discovery, both as dyers and as knitters. For this season we are adding an ideal launch to our yarn family: Bluefaced Leicester (BFL) – Bamboo, superwash and in fingering weight, which you like so much. The result is atomic! The yarn in question makes each of the shades we chose look perfect, it offers a natural satin finish that “lifts” the colours even more, it has a light drape, but achieves projects with body at the same time… Dreamy.
This new fingering base (400 meters in 100 grams) is ideal for mid-season knits, children's garments, not-so-thick shawls and anything that keeps you warm without weighing you down. It has 80% BFL, with all its strength, subtle shine, elasticity and thread length, along with 20% Bamboo. And regarding this last material, we have a lot to tell you, because we were really surprised by how versatile its incorporation into the yarn is.
As most of you may know, bamboo is of plant origin (specifically, cellulose processed into fiber), very light and, for this reason, is generally associated with summer projects. At the same time, it is a natural antibacterial, which prevents clothes from becoming impregnated with odors. It has a certain porosity that makes it very breathable and hygienic, but it also provides an exquisite thermal sensation: it is cool in summer and warm when facing the cold. Incredibly, it is also antistatic and offers some UV protection to our skin!
Another thing that we find fascinating about bamboo is that it comes from a plant species that renews quickly, and it also has the ability to biodegrade, which is definitely a plus. Additionally, its strands are very soft to the touch, do not irritate or cause allergies. They also have a super luminous appearance, which is accentuated by dyeing and does not fade with washing. So, in combination with BFL wool, it clearly offers many advantages to use and to the eye, as you will be able to verify for yourself if you dare to try any of the 19 beautiful and playful colors that we have prepared for you with such enthusiasm.
And since we are talking about our new releases, another new wonder on the web is the Merino Fingering High Twist Superwash base, which you are going to love. Here the yarn is very traditional, which never fails in our knitting needles: 100% Merino SW, very noble and adaptable. The special thing about our HT lies in its twist. This factor helps each stitch to shine in this wool, providing a sensational finish to each project. And the colors are also a dream!
