We tell you everything you need to know about the Mystery KAL 2022

It's like a treasure hunt, with knitters from all over the world, and the result is a shawl that always surprises. Enjoying Stephen West's Mystery KAL (Westknits) is quite an experience for many reasons. The first, obviously, is the mystery. And here it is total, because you don't know the complete project until you finish it. Added to that is the designer's talent, who manages to create super innovative proposals, but which at the same time respect your own tastes when it comes to combining colors. In addition, you learn techniques, you have a lot of fun and you even meet people along the way. That is by definition the charm of a KAL (Knit Along), and West's is already a truly global event.

At Madejasur we want this party to be perfect, so we have prepared special kits so that we can discover the 2022 mystery of West together. We take care to create combinations with very varied colours, so that the set of each kit is a real delight. We also seek to offer you alternatives in different bases, all delicious, which this year are: Merino SW 100%, Merino Sock SW, Merino High Twist SW and Merino 100% NO SW. If you still haven't decided, you can still choose on our website the colour palette that will accompany you in this Mystery KAL, or personalise your own kit for the occasion.

What's coming up on Thursday, October 6th is the release of the 2022 version of MKAL. The pattern is already available on Ravelry, but only on that date will we get the first clues. Because this project is divided into stages and every week of the month you receive in your email the information that allows you to continue moving forward. As you can imagine, there are a lot of people moving their chopsticks at the same time on the five continents and debuting a beautiful shawl in November.

Another interesting point is that Stephen proposes a concept every year that fits perfectly with the project. This time, the central idea is “Twist and Turns”. For now we know that, and that we are going to need five 100-gram skeins of fingering-weight yarn: two for the base color, two for the complementary color, and one for the accents. The instructions also consider 3.5 mm knitting needles, a 100 cm cable, 10 markers, an auxiliary needle, and a tapestry needle. Nothing that a knitter can’t handle, right?
